Stenciled Birthday Thoughts

Happy Wednesday!   Today's project is not a Christmas one!  It's a birthday card for one of my co-workers.  :)   

I used the small Kind Thoughts stencil that's available in the Definitely Decorative decor elements catalog.  It's so pretty and so versatile!  I used it to decorate a tumbled floor tile, too.  (That's going to my mom for Christmas.  ;) )  I sponged Real Red ink on first and then went over it with Champagne Mist shimmer paint.  It's so pretty IRL.  It's layered on a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock.  The Kraft card base was run through the Big Shot on the SU! exclusive Damask Texturz plate.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Chocolate Chip taffeta finishes off the card.

Supplies(all SU!):  Stamps- Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Ink- Real Red, Chocolate Chip.  Paper- Whisper White, Kraft, Chocolate Chip.  Accessories-  Big Shot, Damask Texturz plate, Kind Thoughts stencil, Chocolate Chip taffeta, Champagne Mist shimmer paint, sponge daubers.

Kind & Caring Thoughts

Good Wednesday morning!  Today's card comes to us from Gretchen Barron.  Make sure you visit her blog to see the tutorial for the scalloped mat.  :)

I love the way this card turned out and the colors are so beautiful together. This card uses Kind & Caring Thoughts (a level 3 Hostess stamp set), Cottage Wall Designer Series Paper and a color scheme of Elegant Eggplant, Old Olive and Whisper White. The edges of the DSP layers and the stamped layer are all sponged, which adds a great deal of depth to the project. The stamped image is simply stamped-off -- ink it up once with Elegant Eggplant ink, and then stamp it off two more times without reinking -- what a lovely effect. I added 3 Old Olive Brads on the left for a perfect finishing touch!

Wonderful Wednesday!

Hello everyone! I hope your week has been spectacular so far! Today's blog project comes from Adriana Benitez, a fellow Florida Diva. It is just gorgeous! Adriana, I'm sure your mom will LOVE it!!

Without further ado...

I'm trying to be ahead (for once) and work on cards before I need them. Amazing how I can make cards nearly every day, but never have the birthday and special occasion cards I need for what's on my calender! So today, I decided to work on a card for my Mom. Her birthday is coming up next month, and I wanted to make a card for her that truly reflects her style. She loves our flowers and swirly-type images and anything classic looking. With that in mind, I put on some soft music and got to work! The card base is made from our Sahara Sand cardstock. Using Versamark ink, I rolled images from our Watercolor Vine jumbo wheel across the front of the card. Stampin' Pastels applied with sponge daubers allowed me to swirl a few different colors of chalk in different areas but still keep it soft. I also stamped a portion of our En Francais background stamp onto the bottom right corner of the card. Next, I rolled the wheel across vellum (again with the Versamark), and then heat embossed the images with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Then I inked up the same roller with Perfect Plum Classic Ink and rolled it just once over the vellum. I attached this vellum piece to the top of the card with a glue dot in each corner. The top two dots are covered by the half-back pearls (part of our Pretties Kit); the lower edge is covered by the addition of ribbon and two additional dots. The main image from our Bloomin' Beautiful was stamped with StazOn onto watercolor paper. I used my Aqua Painter and ink from the lids of Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Mellow Moss Classic Ink pads. I trimmed the flower down using our very sharp Paper Snips then mounted the flower onto a scrap of watercolor paper using Stampin' Dimensionals. Voila! A card for my Mom :) I can't wait to give it to her and see what she thinks. I hope you like it, and thanks for stopping by!

It's Wacky Wednesday!

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week so far! Here in Tampa, I am freezing! I don't know how you northerners do it every year! Thankfully, tomorrow is the last day of lows in the low 30s (wind chills are in the 20s!) and highs in the low 50s! Friday we should be back to normal with high temps in the low 70s! WooHoo! :)

Today's projects come from Courtney Carpenter of Clay Center, KS.

This is a folder to hold two 3x3 cards with coordinating envelopes.

It's the 1st Wednesday of 2009!

Happy 2009 from Florida!

I am so excited! Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference starts today in Orlando! I hope my UDI sisters who are attending have a ball! I know they will enjoy the weather. Aside from some rain today, it's supposed to be sunny and in the 70s every day! I will be joining them on Saturday for Regionals! Yay! (I hope one of them will let me drool over the new catalog! LOL)

Today's projects are from another UDI sister in Florida, Adriana Benitez.

The layout is from splitcoast's weekly layout challenge (SC206). The first card is very basic making it a good choice for a stamp-a-stack or beginner stamper. The second one is good for a SAS also, but has a couple more steps with the additional use of the ticket corner punch and some grosgrain ribbon.

For both cards, the card base is creamy caramel cs. I've rubbed barely banana ink (direct to paper) on the edges - it doesn't really show in the photo but adds some interest to the card IRL. Other paper used is our Autumn Vine DSP (gonna miss this paper!), Chocolate Chip, More Mustard, Baja Breeze, and Naturals White. Creamy Caramel ink was used for mr. monkey and the heart, chocolate chip for the main images and sentiment. I love the coffee cups on the 2nd card (this is one hostess set I will not be giving up!) so I'll be making up a bunch of these cards for my private use. I always look forward to a good cup of coffee with a friend so this card is very "me". lol.

Happy Wednesday and some Birthday cards!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Can you believe it's the last Wednesday of October already? Where does the time go? Today I'm sharing cards from Adriana Benitez, a fellow Florida demonstrator. (It sure doesn't feel like I'm in Florida this morning! It's 37 degrees at my house!)

Here's what Adriana has to say about her cards!

Just a few project notes: This one was a little time consuming but fun to make! The large cupcake was stamped onto Baja Breeze and onto the DSP, then cut apart and pieced together. The dots you see on the cupcake and scallops are all from the reservoir on the handheld punch. (Whenever you punch, the circles are stored in there until you empty them out. If you've never noticed that... you probably have a few stored up - ready made confetti!) This card begins as a 6x6 square of cardstock - so this design could easily be opened up into a 6x6 bragbook page.

Stamp Set: Crazy for Cupcakes and coordinating standard wheel Cupcakes
Ink: Chocolate Chip Classic Ink Pad and standard cartridge
Paper: Baja Breeze, Really Rust, Autumn Vine DSP
Other: 1/4" vanilla grosgrain, Scallop Border Punch, 1/8" handheld
punch, Crystal Effects, Dazzling Diamonds, Tombow Adhesive.

This card is made using the same supplies with the addition of
chocolate chip and naturals vanilla cardstock, a 1/4" circle punch and
the Outlined for Fun stamp set. The punch is used to punch out the
corners of the chocolate paper and for additional dots (under the
sentiment) just for an extra touch. I recently received the Outlined
for Fun stamp set and am having so much fun with it! As you see, you
don't really have to add color to the entire image to make it pop. And
just so ya know... the curly thing on the top right is a noise maker -
I've had 2 people ask me what the deal is with the water hose! lol

Another Wacky Wednesday!

It's time to get wacky again! ;)

I decided to watch some of my Workshop Wow DVD that I purchased at Convention. The very first technique was the Mosaic technique. I loved it! I had to try it right away! I ran a piece of cardstock through my Xyron sticker maker. I then proceeded to put cut pieces of Dashing DSP (retired) all over the sticky stuff. It was so fun! When I had most of the sticker paper covered with DSP I sprinkled Gold EP over the entire piece. The powder will stick to the exposed sticker paper. I embossed with my heat tool and layered the mosaic piece on a piece of Real Red cardstock. I used Old Olive cardstock for my card base. The sentiment from Heard from the Heart is stamped on the card base with Versamark and embossed with Gold EP. I love the way this card turned out. I will be using it as one of my Christmas card designs this year.

It's going to be a Wacky Wednesday!

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Harris, and I'm a mom of 2 great kids, a son and a daughter. We live in Tampa, Florida. I will be posting to the UDI blog on Wednesdays now. I have some huge shoes to fill. Leonie is so creative and did a fantastic job! October will be the official start date for my posts, but Max asked me if I would mind posting today. Of course I don't! :)

I had no mojo today, so I opened up the gorgeous new Stampin' Up! catalog for some inspiration. They don't call it the Idea Book & Catalog for nothin', ya know! I lovingly paged through my catalog, and decided to use the sketch from the Bugs & Kisses card on page 69. My card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2". I used the new Party Hearty set, the new Scalloped Edge punch and some new In Colors. See a trend? LOL I stamped the cupcakes on Shimmery White paper. I couldn't capture the sparkle in the picture, but, believe me, it's there. I need to use this paper more often. I always forget I have it. Guess I should get it out of the cabinet and out where I can see it.

Welcome to another wintery Wednesday!


As I mentioned the last couple of weeks our Mini Spring Catalogue started on August 1.

I just love this new Mini as it has so many lovely new sets to choose from and ones that will appeal to all tastes and styles.

This card here is one I made using a lot of new things from the Mini - stamps, ribbon and wheel!

The background is the Its Beautiful jumbo wheel on Old Olive cardstock - a definite must for all collections! That wheel is amazing as it just brings any cardstock to life!

I stamped the bird in Close to Cocoa and embossed it in clear embossing powder. Then I coloured the pretty flowers & leaves using my Stampin Write markers and cut the birdie out.

The flower is from the pretties kit.

Which I've coloured using the Bashful Blue Classic Ink pad and aqua painter.

Once dry I've attached a half pearl from the Pretties kit.

I finished off the card using some very lovely Pomegranate wide Satin ribbon.

I do hope you like this card - I enjoyed making and sharing it with you and hope you take some time for yourself today and stamp - or just take some time and do what makes your heart smile!

G'day on a wet wintery day here in Sydney, Australia.

Its a wet and chilly 52F here as I type - not my favourite weather to say the least so I thought I'd share some lovely projects made by Design Diva Becky Teusink to brighten your day!

This gorgeous card is done using the Spring Break designer series papers, some hodge podge and Taffeta Ribbon. Here's a close up of a similar card using a different hodge podge frame and greeting.

Now I do believe that the Hodgepodge is on sale with a whoppin 25% discount in USA and Canada so check with your local demonstrator on how you can take advantage of this great bargain! Wish ours was discounted too as I really need another tin - oh and when your tin is empty why not decorate it and turn it into a gift for someone?

This card is just gorgeous and rather quick to make with just a couple of punches and a Stampin' Round Wheel and finish off with some ribbon.

How sweet is this envelope with just by using the circle punch?

Something Fresh

G'day from a sunny Sydney although being Winter we are getting some rather chilly weather - especially at night.

Its with great pleasure that I share you a project today done by the lovely Andrea Walford and I just love what she's done with the lovely Fresh Cuts set.

I so wish we had this set here in Australia but maybe they will include it in our Summer Mini Catalogue due out in August. Well one can live in hope!

Isn't this card just divine? I love the softness of the celery and white with the Kraft cardstock.

The recipe is as follows:

Stamps: Fresh Cuts stamp set
Ink: Whisper White Craft, Basic Black, Certainly Celery Ink
Paper: Kraft, Certainly Celery
Accessories: white Embossing Powder, embossing buddy, heat tool, Pretties kit, circle rhinestone brads, wide celery grosgrain ribbon, sponge, ticket corner punch, 1/8" circle punch, stampin' dimensionals.

Directions and Dimensions:

1. Take a 4 1/4" x 11" piece of Kraft Cardstock, score at 5 1/2" and fold.
2. Stamp the greeting from the Fresh Cuts stamp set in basic black ink on the bottom right of the card.
3. Using the Direct To Paper technique, rub white craft ink along the edges of the card.
4. Rub your embossing buddy over a 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" piece of Kraft Cardstock. Stamp the background image from Fresh Cuts in Whisper White Craft ink onto the Cardstock. Sprinkle on white Embossing Powder, heat with heat tool, trim to about 3" x 3 1/4", Use the ticket corner punch on all 4 corners.
5. Use a ticket corner punch on a piece of Certainly Celery Cardstock 3 1/4" x 3 1/2", then mat the embossed image onto this piece.
6. Sponge a flower from the Pretties kit in certainly celery ink. Add the small white flower to the center. Punch a hole using the 1/8" circle punch onto the bottom corner of the matted image, and mount to the flower using a medium sized celery rhinestone brad.
7. Mount the whole matted image (with flower) to the card front using a Stampin' Dimensional in each corner.
8. Tie a 15" piece of wide Certainly Celery grosgrain ribbon in a knot around the card, with the knot adjusted slightly towards the left.

Hi Everyone! You have had the pleasure of getting to know one of my favorite international Divas, Leonie, who is our regular Wednesday UDI Blog contributor and lives in Australia. I look forward to hearing about Leonie's convention fun tomorrow, if she has recovered that is.

Today, I have the pleasure of introducing another international Diva, my friend Sam from England. Sam created this adorable card especially for your blogging enjoyment today. You will recognize the stamp set, Summer By The Sea, which is retired here in the U.S., but remains current in England. Here is what Sam has to say about herself:

Hi I am Sam, I live in Guildford England, it's not too far from London, and I am married to an airline pilot so I get lots of time to craft! I do have a room just for my crafting supplies, but often seem to take over the whole house. I used to work as a government lawyer, until a serious illness forced me to reconsider what I wanted out of life. I now work as a freelance consultant and have just taken on an SU demoship. I love stamping card making and scrapbooking and I want to grow this passion into a business that I can be proud of.

Recipe:
The stamp sets are Summer by the Sea and Seeing Spots.
Inks are So Saffron and Ballet Blue (second stamped) a couple of the spots are where I mixed ballet blue with so saffron.
The cardstock is Whisper White and from Earth Tones.
There is hodgepodge in the corner and the Ticket Corner Punch and Scallop Circle Punch were used.

do you hear the buzzzzzzzzzzz .....

Well it is Wednesday yet again and I am so excitement I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!!

Our 2nd Australian Stampin' Up! convention is this week! It starts Friday in Brisbane, Australia. If you live in Australia or know any Australian demonstrators then you have heard the buzzzzzzz of excitement all over the country!

Last year's convention (and the first in Australia) was held in beautiful Sydney (no guessing where I live huh?) and it was such an awesome experience and to have Shelli & Stirling Gardner with us and they both really do have the patience of saints! Shelli waited until every demo wanted to say hello to her did and smiled thru millions of photo's cos we all wanted one! Last year there was around 180 demonstrators who attended and at the time I think there was around 600 demonstrators throughout Australia. This year its gunna be bigger and better as we now have over 2000 demonstrators in Australia and I'm sure there will be just a couple more attending this year's convention.

I am flying up to Brisbane in the morning and catching up with some of the girls in the team that Tracey, Maggie and myself are in. Actually Maggie and I are sharing accommodation and it will be so good to catch up with her again - face to face.

OK enough of that .... I thought for today's post I would share some of the swaps I have made for this year's convention.

I think this last one is my favourite but I do have a think about purple! Have you noticed?? It helped I got my free sets from Sale-a-Bration redemption which I chose Wild Rose and Life Definitions. I've also used the Linen Background stamp to give it that 'tapestry' look and I am so happy that we also now have the photo corner punch!

Punch and Judi!

Ok ... so I was at a loss for a title but this post will show a new way with the 5 Petal Flower punch and its brought to us today by 'Judi' Harvey. I am a little excited as we now have this punch in our very new 2008 Idea Book & Catalogue in Australia so I can too get this punch and do this tutorial but it will have to wait until after our Stampin' Up! Convention next week (insert excitement here) in Brisbane, Australia. Here is Judi's introduction ...

Hi Everyone! Leonie asked me to share a little bit about myself. I live in a small town about 15 miles south of Knoxville Tenessee and I have lived in Tenessee since 1974. I grew up in Michigan and moved south with my first husband (he is a TN native). I really feel like I was supposed to be in this part of the country as I love the lifestyle here...not to mention the weather! I am married to a wonderful guy who is my best friend! Jerry and I got married 15 years ago and between us we have 5 children (4 girls and one guy) and 5 grandchildren (3 girls and 2 boys). Jerry supports and encourages me in all I do. I also have a day job where I work for the commercial lending division of a bank. I am the Loan Operations manager (yawn).

I found out about Stampin' Up! through my daughter. She lives in Nashville and called me one evening about 5 years ago and asked if I would like to come for a Stampin Up! workshop she was having. I had never heard of this company and was into scrapbooking not stamping. But...being the good mom that I try to be...I accepted and made the 3 hour drive for the workshop. My thoughts about stamping at that time was "Okay, so you spend $10 on one stamp, use it one time...then what do you do with it???" Well, needless to say, a whole new world was opened up to me and I was hooked. I came back home with a $150 order and in about 2 months finally found a Stampin' Up! demo in my area and joined her club. I was a club member for about 2 years and then decided I could do this myself ... so I signed up in July of 2005 (I think much to the chagrin of my demo!).

My favorite part about being a demo is teaching others how to stamp and how to do different techniques and then watching them react the same way I did. They suddenly see a new world open up to them! I encourage all my stampers to use the items they buy by asking them to create cards for my blog. I also try to encourage them to not be afraid to just try something new and that I too throw some things in the trash! It's all a part of learning.

I was invited to join UDI a little over a year ago. I was replying to a thread on Split Coast and Max sent me an email and asked me if I wanted to join. I love UDI and have made several friends through this group (waving to all my buds!). I hope one day to get to meet them all face to face. I find everyone to be encouraging and helpful...not to mention friendly! I just feel so uplifted by all the Divas and there is no negativity here like you find on some other sites. I love being a Diva!

I must say I love introducing Diva's here as I get to know more about many of them. I am very embarrassed to say I didn't know Judi before this introduction but I am finding that you can share many similarities in your life as those on the other side of the globe that share the same passion about Stampin' Up! and stamping. It never ceases to amaze me how this technology can bring so many people together from all over the world.

For this flower you will need ...

• SU Five Petal Flower Punch
• SU Boho Blossoms Punch
• SU Paper Snips
• SU Double Sided Designer Paper
• Tombow Multi Purpose Adhesive

1. Punch two flowers from the double sided designer paper

2. Using the paper snips make two small cuts toward the center (don’t cut all the way to the center) leaving two petals on one side and three petals on the other side.

3. Fold the two petal side behind the three petals side lining up the two petals between the three petals. Make sure you fold the flowers to the opposite side so you have two different sides of the paper showing on the front.

4. Put two small dots of glue on the front of one of the flowers and attach it to the underside of the second flower lining up the petals.

It is not necessary to glue the back petals to the front but you may if you want to.

Now your daisy is formed.

For the center punch out one of the small flowers on the Boho Blossom punch and glue to the middle of the daisy and add a brad or half pearl in the center.

Attach to your card any way you would like, I like to attach them with dimensionals.

You can do the center of the flower many different and pretty ways. This flower looks great using SU Prints Designer Series papers but this paper made a bolder statement and showed the double sides better. Have fun playing around with different papers and centers.

Pat in the Box!

Welcome to another Wednesday!!

Today I'd like to introduce you to a lovely Diva from Utah - Pat Washburn.

When I first joined Utah Divas International Pat was one of the first to email me privately and welcome me to the Diva's. She has since been there for me when I needed help and over the past few months I have been struggling with lots of headaches and she offered to help me with some aromatherapy which I truly appreciate.

One thing I love about being part of the Diva's is the fact that we are just not online acquaintances but we become good friends and family to each other.

Here is Pat's intro ....

Hi, my name is Pat Washburn. I am one of the really lucky Divas. I live in Riverton, Utah just 1/2 mile from Max! I was so fortunate to choose Max as my Demo when I moved here from Kentucky 2 1/2 years ago. I have loved knowing her and became a Demo under her last May.

I will celebrate 40 years of marriage to a wonderful man (David) the end of March. We have 6 great children and 5 wonderful in-law children (our youngest is not married yet) who have given us 15 fabulous grand children - with one more due the end of May. I am lucky enough to live near ten of those sweet little people (the oldest here is 7yrs the youngest is 7 months).

I was introduced to Stampin' Up! way back when they started, but I never caught the "bug" until about 8 years ago when I moved to Kentucky for my husband's job. I fell in with a great group of "addicts" who got me "hooked" big time. I now feel deprived if I can't stamp at least an hour a day (and usually more - we are now retired). I have fallen in love with all kinds of paper crafting and love making stamped gifts like the box of gift cards shown here.

Thanks for looking and for being the great group of support you are for this "unrepentant addict!"

Here are some more boxes that Pat shared with me and I think they are just too nice not to share them with you! Pat got the idea from one Split Coast Stamper made by Sharon Johnson.


Tied Baskets

2 pieces of DS Paper 3" X 9" long

-Score paper at 3/4", 3", 6" and 8 1/4" (or 3/4" and 3" from each end)
- Fold the 3" score marks so that the side of the paper you want on the inside of the basket are facing.
- Fold the 3/4" flaps the opposite way (toward the outside of the basket).
- Punch holes and insert eyelets at the 4 corners of each piece centered on the folded flap
- Apply adhesive to the bottom of one piece and adhere it to the inside of the other piece at right angles to form a + shape.
- Stamp or decorate sides as desired (I left mine plain)
- Fold sides up and thread ribbon through eyelets at each corner.
- Tie ribbons at corners.

These can be made larger and used as centerpieces. Then untied and stored flat for later use
