Super Easy Invites

Last week I had a crop night with some friends from church and when I decided to make invitations for the event, I immediately went to My Digital Studio.  It was amazingly fast and easy to put these together.  Oh, and it was fun - so much fun!  I love how I can experiment with different colors, stamps and layouts all in just a few minutes.

Here is the template I used:

And here is my finished project:

I printed them as 4 x 6 photos at Sam's Club and they turned out so cute!

Finally Friday at Convention, Oh My!!!!!

My card this week uses the Square Lattice eb folder and Big Shot from SU! I love this folder and my Big Shot!! I also made this card for the LNS weekly challenge 79, which is a sketch, designed by Mary Jo Price-Williams.

I turned the sketch vertical since my card base, Whisper White, was already cut in the vertical way. My top note layer was cut in Tangerine Tango and Whisper White, layered with Pear Pizazz and Greenhouse Gala dsp. Love the bright, fun and sunny colors of this piece of the dsp.

To mimic the flowers on the dsp, I used the extra large fancy flower punch in So Saffron and Tangerine Tango, put them through the lattice eb folder and then curled up the edges. Hard to see in the photo, but I also peeled the Tangerine petals apart some. The entire flower is on a Daffodil Delight scallop circle, the new 2 3/8" one with dimensionals. The sentiment is from the new hostess level 3 set, Occasional Quotes. This is one set you need!! It is stamped in Tangerine Tango and backed with So Saffron. The petals/leaves are punched from the 2 step bird punch in Cert. Celery. I used the branch and wing as leaves.

The strip under the top note layer is So Saffron with WW, after I ran it through the lattice eb folder. I just love the look this folder gives to card stock. 3 silver 5/8' brads finish off the strip. I used a piece of Old Olive satin to finish the card off with. The top note panel is also up on dimensionals.

Convention is a blast, as usual!!!  Tonight I meet up with some of my UDI friends for dinner and more card swapping!!!

Happy Stamping!!!!!

Diva Inspiration Challenge #105

Yes, that is a picture of a Christmas Tree you see before you. This week's inspiration picture is inspired by Christmas in July. What a perfect time to start thinking about our Christmas cards - colors, design and how many. By starting early, hopefully it will have you ready and stress free by the holiday season.

diva sketch challenge

Please excuse the crappy picture of this week's sketch. I'm not quite sure what happened.

Is everyone enjoying their summer and the horrendous heat? I am so not a hot weather person. The sunshine is pretty but the humidity is awful.

Lately I've gotten comments from some of the team that the sketches are, well, a challenge. I was a bit amused by that since they are "challenges." Anyway, I wanted to share with you that the ones they have mentioned are ones that I have not actually made myself. Up until a few weeks ago, every sketch was of a card that I had actually made at some point in time. I think eleven months of original sketches is pretty darn good. Just wanted to share that with y'all.

Remember that you may skip from blog to blog or come back here to see someone's link. Enjoy your weekend. :)

Finally Friday & A Window with a View!!

Hello all!!!  Sorry for being a little late today, but I am sooo excited about leaving for convention on Monday, that my days are all running together this week!  The card I have for you today I created for an Inspiration challenge on LateNight Stampers.  And I my card won!!

I'll start with the Bashful Blue background layer. I attempted to try a technique which uses mesh bagging to create the texture. I had a piece from utensils I bought and just found it today while cleaning!! Anyway, I say attempted because it didn't turn out like I thought it would. I used my brayer, a sponge, the ink pad and then a sponge dauber and just kind of rubbed it over the mesh. The effect on here is fine, but I would have liked it slightly more detailed. I did use Bashful Blue ink.

The main image panel was created using Pacific Point, Bashful Blue and Whisper White. My thought/idea was to give the look of looking out of a window, but necessarily from an inside view. Make sense? Not sure I quite achieved that look, but I do love how this card turned out.

The grass was stamped on Whisper White in Wild Wasabi a couple of times, to create depth. I then sponged Bashful Blue over, with a scalloped oval, to create sky and clouds. The sun was actually a "boo-boo", but it turned out ok. The window frame was created by punching four 1 1/4" squares and running it through the Lattice Square eb folder.

The cone flowers were colored with markers and stamped onto Whisper White. I used Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip. LOVE that we now have markers to go with former/new In Colors!!! I then cut them out and popped them up with dimensionals. To create even more depth I purposely curved the stems out some and curled up some of the petals. I then wove them through the linen thread, which is wound around the bottom.

My sentiment is stamped with the new Perfect Punches set, using the Round Tab image and the saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. Both of these are done with Pacific Point ink.

The butterflies are cut from the Beautiful Wings embosslit in Pacific Point and Wild Wasabi. The entire main image panel is popped up with more dimensionals. To finish this off I used my distressor tool on the Pacific Point and Whisper White panel. Reminds me of looking at a scene on the beach.

The inside was done with the leftover butterflies, stamped some more grass and layered Bashful Blue, Wild Wasabi dsp and Whisper White together.

Happy Stamping!!!  And to all my UDI friends who will be at convention - I can't wait to see you!!!

Finally Friday with Summer Fruits!!

Hello all!!! I hope you are having a wonderful beginning to your summer season. As you know, June 21st was the official start of summer. Except I think Mother Nature has gotten a little ahead of herself! Here in Michigan we've had some horribly hot and humid days already.

I used SC285 over on SCS. The sketch calls for squares, but I used circles instead. So, as I was looking at the sketch,  I thought how my Tart & Tangy set would look on here.

On this card I used a combination of new and old products. The stamp set, Tart & Tangy, has been out for awhile, but is still one of my faves, especially this time of year. The strawberry was colored with the new Riding Hood Red marker and Garden Green. On the apple I used the new In-Color marker, Pear Pizazz and Chocolate Chip. The orange slice was stamped in Pumpkin Pie.

Each of the stamps were first stamped in Crumb Cake and then the colored pieces were cut out and popped up with a dimensional. On the strawberry circle I used the new 2 3/8" scallop circle in Pumpkin Pie and then used my other circle punches for the rest.

On the background piece I layered a piece of the new In-Color, Poppy Parade onto Very Vanilla. The Poppy Parade layer was run through my Lattice Square eb folder. I then used the flower strip from the new Level 1 hostess set, Because I Care, along the the top and bottom edges. The red polka-dotted ribbon is now retired, but I thought looked perfect with this card. I used my "It's Your Birthday" set for the sentiment, which was punched out with the 1" circle and stamped in Riding Hood Red. I sponged the edges with the new Crumb Cake.

A lot of dimension going on here too!! The background panel is up with dimensionals, as is each of the circles.

Happy Stamping!!!!
